What better way to celebrate the new year than to support the growth and learning of child and youth professionals? The Virtual Lab School team has been reviewing courses, updating content, and revising activities across the Training & Curriculum Specialist (T&CS) track to ensure that coaches can foster growth and learning with the most recent research and relevant information. Communication & Language Development, Creative Expression, and Self & Cultural Understanding are the latest foundational courses in the T&CS track that include newly updated content, resources, and activities. Some highlights include:
- New content in Lesson 3 of Communication & Language Development contains updated Language and Developmental Milestone charts across age groups and discusses how media literacy can be a useful tool for language development.
- A new Explore Activity, “Cultivating Creativity Self-Assessment”, added to Lesson 4 of Creative Expression asks you to reflect on how you promote and support creativity with staff members.
- New content in Lesson 2 of Self & Cultural Understanding includes reflection questions to use with staff to assess how their learning environments promote a healthy sense of self, as well as a list of practices that can help embrace diversity in programs.
