A new course in the Focused Topics track is now available at the Virtual Lab School: Supporting Language Diversity: Coaching. Tailored to the roles and responsibilities of trainers, coaches, and administrators, this three-lesson course highlights the benefits that multi-language settings bring to children’s development and trajectory. Learn coaching strategies to support caregivers and teachers of dual language learners (bilingual children, or children beginning to learn English), and gain an understanding about how monolingual English-speaking children also benefit from multi-language settings. Whether or not you speak more than one language, Supporting Language Diversity: Coaching presents a solid framework from which coaches can help caregivers and teachers reinforce language diversity in their learning environments, including ways to engage the language-rich expertise of families, coworkers, and the wider community.
